Our Estate is in the heart of the Green Dordogne (Periogord Vert) and covers an area of 30,000m2. We are situated in the Regional National Park of the Dordogne and Limosine. La Saucisserie is in the charming village of Saint Pierre de Frugie, at an altitude of approx. 500m, which is the highest part of the Dordogne. St. Pierre de Frugie is in fact also the smallest commune in the Dordogne with only 340 inhabitants. The Dordogne (or the Perigord) has been subdivided into four areas of colour and Green Perigord (Perigord vert) is characterised by its green, verdant, undulating landscape, where you will find lots of lakes, brooks and rivers and beautiful panoramic views. Above all, we lie within the largest National Park in France and in the Dordogne.
The name La Saucisserie (Dordogne) was given to our Estate because there was once a sausage factory as part of the property. During your stay you will find certain reminders of the former life of buildings, for example a previous stable which has now become a gite, or a beautiful walled courtyard which includes a covered area (an excellent place for children to play games in shade or shower) which once held farm equipment. Previously, our Estate comprised: a large main house, the sausage factory, farm buildings, barns and various stables which have all undergone a complete renovation. Our gites, holiday houses, luxury tents and luxury bedrooms within the main house, now all provide stylish accommodation with excellent facilities, and are set within a beautifully relaxing setting of glorious countryside. Our Estate is a fantastic place to stay for those who want a scenically splendid location in which to relax and provide their own entertainment using the many facilities which are provided here – swimming in our pool, enjoying sports and games, or relaxing over a delicious meal in our restaurant - plus taking the opportunity to explore the larger adventures of "the Dordogne". Whether you choose to plan your own tours (you can make use of our Internet connection for this) or let us help you with ideas and suggestions about what to do in the local area, for example you might choose to visit a nearby lake which has its own sandy beach and amusements (bicycle-rail, mini-golf, and survival park). We have our own excellent Restaurant which, in addition to indoor seating, also provides the opportunity to enjoy your meal outdoors on our covered terraces. Our Restaurant is popular, not only with all of our guests, but also with guests of other nearby holiday homes, local people, including the Mayor of our village. It is a lovely spot for dinning for everyone. Even parents of small children can enjoy a relaxed meal, safe in the assurance that our baby intercom enables you to monitor the safety of your children.
